Philosophy
My philosophy concerning photography is that an image should
speak for itself. If it is necessary to explain the significance
of a picture, then it has failed.
Artistic
Comments
The
pictures are not a survey or record of the location; instead
they are a collection of interesting or unusual images. To appreciate
these images, it should not be necessary to know the locations,
but familiarity should add to their enjoyment. |

Composition
The
first priority is the creation of an interesting image, using
composition and light. My approach includes the secondary
aim of showing the maximum amount of detail, which enables
each picture to be examined and appreciated on a totally different
level.
Technical Details
Most of the photographs have been taken using
medium format camera, and I have also used 35mm and large
format cameras for some of the images. The use of filters
is minimal - sometimes and orange filter helps to balance
the sky and improve contrast.
The pictures are printed on high quality fibre-based paper
in an entirely traditional darkroom, using archival processing
methods to ensure that prints will last with care for well
in excess of 100 years.
